Marbled tea eggs

  • 8 eggs
  • 2 pods of star anise
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 120ml soy sauce
  • 3 bags of any black tea
  • 1/4 tsp 5-spice powder
  • 1 Tbsp rock sugar

Step 1

Boil eggs in water until half way done (~ 5minutes).


Step 2

Let eggs cool down. Use a spoon to crack the egg shells all around. Dont peel eggs.


Step 3

In a pot, add 1L of water together with all the remaining ingredients. Bring to boil then cook over medium heat for about 45 minutes.


Step 4

Keep eggs in the broth. They're ready to serve the next day.
